The shed that keeps on giving! Most of these were before my time in the UK but it's a great nostalgia trip! "Havoc at Heathrow!" is pretty much par or the course these days. Cheers for sharing.

Such an awesome collection. Loved the captain Britain and Excalibur stories. They were at such an important time in my comic reading life. Thanks for sharing

Great stuff! I only remember the first few issues but don’t remember Nick Fury or Howard The Duck (still have the original run plus Treasury) being back ups!? One of the best things about British comics were the free gifts, usually made out of paper, that’s a ‘coffee table book’ waiting to be made😆

Some nice panels and pages on display. It was great that those earlier Captain Britain stories were all in colour, something of a rarity for Marvel UK at the time. There is a collected hardback edition of all the 70s material- Captain Britain, Birth of a Legend, published 2011. Good to see Stan mentioning Neil Tennant on his introduction page!

I was a fan of Herb Trimpe and still am. He was chosen as artist on Captain Britain because he was living at the time in a lighthouse somewhere off the coast of Cornwall. At least, that's what I've always believed and if it's not true I don't want to hear it! Although the strip (and character) didn't really get interesting until Steve Parkhouse, Moore and Davis et al got involved, I still love these clunky old strips. Joshua Stragg (the Reaver) for PM!

Totally took him for granted at the time but I love Trimpe more and more the older I get.

BTW. That issue 8 goes for a bomb now. First appearance of Psylocke (thanks to Betsy’s weird 90s glow-up) slab that bitch up! ;)

Didn’t that have a Black Knight by Steve Parkhouse at some stage? I’m not sure it was in this, but I loved the strip, the little of it that I managed to get. Wonder if those were ever collected. Hmm… (there goes my evening :p ).

That was in HULK WEEKLY, a few years later. I've a collection somewhere that includes the Captain Britain strips, the Black Knight strips, and the Alan Davis stuff from MARVEL SUPERHEROES MONTHLY, DAREDEVILS and CAPTAIN BRITAIN MONTHLY.

I was never a fan of Herb Trimpe but nothing was going to discourage me from enjoying Captain Britain! Besides, as you point out, there were other stories with artists such as Steranko and Brunner. (Brunner's Doctor Strange is still my favorite visually.)

You are on a roll, Steve! Keep it up!
