I bought my copy of New Statesmen back in 1992 (or thereabouts) not having ANY idea who this Cook bloke was! I was so impressed by the design work, as much as I was disturbed by the story it embellished. Little did I know that 25 years later I’d be working alongside the fellow, designing the best-looking graphic novel (read: comics) collections in the business! Such a small universe, ain’t it?

Well, Curtis, as The Man once said to us both "Thou hath chosen a creed, a code, a way of life, and by thy choice, and by thy faith, the legends ne’er shall perish!" and it's up to us to keep them well designed!

Fascinating as always, Steve.

Cheers, Dave! I have one called David Hine and the Marvel UK Migration that I'll put up at some point. I found it on my original blog. Plus I found your fighting nuns artwork scan... somewhere.

Presumably the migration to Crisis. I remember I was inking Sleeze Brothers over Andy Lanning's art and Rich Starkings was editor. They were a bit miffed with me for dropping it to do full art on Sticky Fingers!

Yep! I was thinking about all those great illustrations you did for my New Statesmen pages.

That was my "in" at Fleetway, for which I am eternally grateful!

Well, you did some great work... and it was different, y'know. They were good times, looking back...
