Get well soon Steve. Post more covers and any memories you have of acquiring them, it makes for great reading.

The covers to the first 2 issues of Spider-ManComics Weekly look to me like paste-ups from the original comics, but the cover on the 3rd issue is by none other than "Judo" Jim Starlin. He did a bunch of covers for these early UK issues.

Yes, I have the American issue with the same cover as number #2, but I never knew that other was by Jim Starlin. Good info, Ed - Thanks!

more than a few of the others you show are by him too, natch - although the quality of the inks can be a bit variable

Thanks, I just edited it to add your comment, so thanks for that. I loved his Warlock books!

Commiserations on the Covid Steve, banish the bugs soon. Some stone cold Marvel classics there – I had them all too, once!

Please post more! As a Yank, I've only recently discovered the world of UK comic magazines and they've been an incredible addition to my collection (at the expense of my wallet and shipping costs).

I was a huge Marvel UK (Genesis 92) fan and just found out about Overkill a few weeks ago. Tracking down issues is hard enough without trying to find the bonus prizes intact.

Thanks for sharing your treasure trove!

Been missing you posts! Get yourself well, Steve! I've been fighting a chest infection for what feels like months now, so I empathize!

Sheeesh! I thought I’d be over it by now. Lucky I changed my return flight. Hope you get shot of your chest infection soon.

Hi Steve, nice post as always, even from yer sick bed in Blighty – just in time for the UK election fandango! Hope you recover from the Covids soon with or without Aunt May to lend a healing hand.

It'd be great to see some old Captain Britains, Mighty World of Marvels, etc, many of which I sadly sold off years ago. I still love that early work by the two Alans (and later Jamie D.), with production by none other than the recently retired Alison Gill – happy days.

Cheers, Cefn. Yeah, I found some interesting photos from one of our Marvel UK pub gatherings that I sent to Alison the other day. I’m glad I rediscovered all these gems!

Feel better soon! Great seeing these, love to see some Captain Britain. I have boxes up in the loft of my parents house that have been there for years but I’m pretty sure the contents (paperbacks & comics) won’t be in as good condition.

Thanks, Paul! Looks like Captain Britain weeklies are a popular request. I know they’re in there somewhere…

Amazing they are in such good condition. While it's awful that you have Covid and the reasons for your trip are difficult, we need to look for the silver linings. Time to go through these boxes and reminisce. That's the gift.

Hope you feel better soon.

"Okay, first up. Thanks for not unsubscribing due to my inactivity on here." Yes, how DARE you not fill my in box daily with your thoughts!

Seriously, I post to my own blog only occasionally. It doesn't seem to cost me subscribers. As someone who subscribes to many dozens of Substack blogs, I say that low frequency is perfectly fine! Post at the frequency that feels right to you. I, for one, will be here to read.
