Cheers for the behind-the-scenes Steranko Special, Sleuthing Steve. I remain a fan after all these years and that's the only FOOM issue I've kept. His interpretation of "Repent Harlequin", said the Ticktockman – 3D glasses and all – in The Illustrated Harlan Ellison remains one of my all time fave comic book adaptations (along with Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson's Alien and the recent The Road by Manu Larcent), even tho' my copy of the Byron Preiss book is seriously falling apart.

Cheers, Cefn! I'm not sure which FOOM issue you kept though...

It must have been printed correct in the UK annual (hardback) collection of this arc by Steranko then, no? For us to have it as seen here in full colour I mean - not just in B+W in Titans or Super Spider-man. Another great wee post, Steve! X

Thanks, Ed! X - Yeah, I realized I must have scanned that from my Captain America hardback in 2012... already 13 YEARS AGO - WTF!?! It had a bright yellow cover, I remember that.

Reminds me of the time Marvel UK published Steranko’s cover to Hulk King-size #1 on MWOM with his original head instead of the Severin revision.

I had no idea that was a Severin head, now I'm trying to Google for it... Do you have it?

I had a copy back in the day. Last one I saw was in the bargain bin at Orbital. It was MWOM issue 129 (March 1975) that featured the pure, un-cut Steranko.

Loving this deep dive on the history of a single panel and its printed variants!

Those FOOM covers are great, had a few issues but long gone, great to see them again. Always kicked myself for not picking up Steranko’s Marlowe, think I was put off at the time by it not being an ‘comic’ in the usual sense, the first graphic novel? Super interesting details about a single panel and how technical it was before computers/digital.

There were some other good FOOM covers, but those first 4 were killers!
