This is amazing. My memories of the party are so vague now. We didn't have cameras and I don't remember seeing any photos before this. What a night!

Thanks, Dave! Someone posted a clip from one of the Nerve Centres on Facebook and Tharg mentions that the party stars at 10pm until 3am. I’d forgotten how late we used to stay out!

Thanks for this Steve, it's great to see some photos of this unique event. My memories of it are very patchy but I still have my ticket and a flyer! The special guests were Orbital and this was my first time seeing them live. Paul Hartnoll has posted a short video on YouTube

Not sure if he has any more footage or if he was the person who gave you the VHS.

Thanks, Dave! That's superb. Well found, I had no idea that existed. I love Orbital, I have all of their albums and I can't believe I forgot they were there. I thought I'd seen them in Hoxton instead for some reason.

Yeah, they were also doing gigs as part of the Megadog "MIDI Circus" tour along with other bands at the time, so maybe you did see them elsewhere.

Yes, I saw them a couple of times. I don’t always remember things that I haven’t photographed for some reason :) hey, were you the same person that posted the Nerve Centre scans on Facebook?

No, it's not me on Facebook but I did see the post. I'll put the pictures of my flyer and ticket on there anyway.

That was before night buses and all-night tubes as well. We were lucky if taxis would take us south of the river!

Yes, you're right, Dave. I remember the mad tube dash to Victoria Station to get the last train home to Purley. Unfortunately the train didn't stop but continued on to Gatwick Airport. I got off the train and asked the driver how the hell I was going to get home, and he told me not to worry, he was driving another train back that way to the train sheds. He told me to hop in and he'd put the light on in my carriage and he'd drop me off at Purley. I felt quite honored to be the only passenger, and sure enough when we got to Purley, he stopped the train, waited for me to disembark, then waved goodbye. As the train trundled off into the distance I realised to my horror that Purley Station was closed for the night and I couldn't get out! I ended up having to scale the wall to escape. A night to remember!
