Absolutely gorgeous photos! Thank you for sharing them and your wonderful memories! Kip was a dear friend and I miss him. Thank you for posting a link to Spirit of Sherwood on Facebook, as well. The pics of Marion are especially stunning. Nothing is ever forgotten!—Christine Alexander, Spirit of Sherwood
Hi Christine, Thanks for the kind words. It's always nice to get some feedback. It's true that Nothing is ever forgotten. I remember how enjoyable it was sitting there listening to your friend, Kip, as if we were sitting round a camp fire. A brilliant storyteller, sadly missed. I'm glad you like the photos. I'll try and post others at some point.
Cheers Steve, it's a mystery for the ages... or should I say the aged. Fab photos, as always, if not the perfect aides memoire. And, John T., I'd be very surprised if Marvel UK had shelled out for a dummy on a magazine that, at the time and in all probability, was being sized up for sale in the near future...
Hi Cefn. I don't think Marvel UK Management ever really understood Starburst. Though the fact that it survives to this day (still using a variation on Steve's logo!) suggests that they dropped a bollock by selling it...
Ha! (a mystery for the aged :) Also, in 1985 colour photocopiers were nowhere near as good as they are now, so it can't have been a mock up. It would be so cool if you discovered you had that Judi Trott interview lurking on cassette somewhere.
I wish I had your bower bird instincts, but I've been gradually divesting myself of "stuff" for years, so there's not even a slim chance I have Judi on cassette, I'm afraid. Hell, I don't have any cassettes.
Robin of Sherwood, Catweazle, Ace of Wands, Children of the Stones (to name but a few); classics for the ages. That Starburst cover is a true glitch in the matrix though. How can Judi Trott and Nickolas Grace be reading an issue not yet published? I wondered if you might have designed the cover ahead of time and made a mock up issue using proofs, for the actors to pose with. But in the Maid Marian photo the cover has folded over, so you see the red 'S' of the Starburst logo on the contents page – and Marvel UK didn't produce double-sided proofs. The mystery rumbles on! I'm sure Richard Carpenter would have loved it.

Indeed. Nuff said!

Yes, I thought the very same thing until I saw that folded over cover.
had to listen to Harry Game theme tune after reeding this. Lovely artical. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zHTcxVjX0I
Thanks! I'd forgotten about that Clannad track.
Love this. And I prefer your version of the time slip...
Thanks, Coral!
