Loved the Avengers as a kid but never dared rewatch, want to leave the memory as it is (but bet they stand up). Emma Peel/Diana Rigg always my favourite foil for Steed. I’d never seen those Wonder Woman issues, the Omnibus cover looks groovy! 😉
That omnibus cover's magnificent - I'll have to slot those issues into my reading list. And I might finally give watching The Avengers a go, or perhaps try to get hold of that Morrison/Gibson book. I've always half-fancied watching it but never quite got round to it. I'm part way through the first Aldritch Kemp audio drama, which I gather has Avengers vibes, at the moment.
Ah! I couldn't resist the allure of colour, and went in at the start of season 5. I'll dive back and see if my 21st century eyes can accustom themselves to the black and white episodes.
I will always have a fondness for the show. As for the movie? Uma Thurman and Ralph Finnes did a passable job on a bad story and questionable direction
Brilliant post. How odd it seems now that everything but the Emma Peel version has faded into the mists of time. The Avengers will always be in black-and-white with Diana Rigg in my memory.
Thanks, Dave! Yeah, I actually prefer the B/W Diana Rigg episodes, having said that, even the colour ones would have been black-and-white on our telly!
Those Emma Peel jump suits are just striking and hip. I didn't know that M-Appeal story. Funny.
They are so groovy, aren't they!
This was so fantastic to read, I logged in to say it!
Thanks, Tom! Much appreciated.

Thanks, Paul. You should risk rewatching, they're still good. Especially the B/W Emma Peel episodes.

Cheers, Mark! The B/W Emma Peel episodes are still my favourites. I think they're all up on Amazon.

Just think of them as Noir!
Well, The Town of No Return certainly benefited from being monochrome. So far, so good!

Yes, I agree. They were good in their roles. I wonder if they’ll ever attempt another movie, or even a tv show?
