Great post, as always! I did two record covers for the Japanese punk outfit Balzac - one of which claimed to be the biggest CD cover ever produced, at 666cms squared. :-)
Great examples! I watched the Gainsbourg/Bardot video and I wondered if the artwork in that was produced by Guy Peellaert during his 'Adventures of Jodelle' phase. I can't find a credit but if not him, someone was ripping him off!
Some of the close-ups definitely look like his work, but the life-size painting behind Bardot I'm not so sure about. Great seeing Bardot as a brunette though! Gainsbourg was a bit of a dude really, wasn't he.
I curated an exhibition of record covers by comic artists a few years ago. I think I showed around fifty including many you’ve got here. It’s amazing how many there were to choose from. Even more nowadays since the vinyl revival.
I wish I’d seen that, Sean. It’s probably similar in the UK, but over here cassettes are back, as are VHS tapes. There’s a shop devoted to them in Burbank. Who’d have thought it!

Balzac – Paradox! I just googled it. Looks great!
Cheers! :-)
Some great picks. You have inspired me to have a dig in my own collection.
Glad to hear!

Wonderful! I never realised that DJ Food cover was by Henry Flint. Love The Creature from the Planet Bass. Actually they're all great!
Yes, the Flint/Food collaboration was pretty spectacular!
Fun stuff!
Cheers, Samuel!
