On your mystery Dinky cover- I have never noticed before but the Enterprise registration is backwards there - it has a very Spanish ink line on the starship. Could it be merch art that got flipped and someone in production had to bodge the registry?(The 1s are still the wrong way around)
Hi Mike – this was long before my time on 2000 AD, but I'd be willing to bet that the Enterprise was originally drawn right to left, facing 'into' the cover. But due to the arcane art of cover design, objects and characters more often appear left to right, facing 'out'. I've no idea why it looks better, it just does. The designer of that issue (not Steve) probably flipped it, thinking no-one would notice the anomalous numbers. But this is Comics, and everyone notices your mistakes, all the time!
Some nice covers. Nice background information about the McCarthy cover.
Love that McCarthy Dredd cover, the colours are great and the halftone is almost op-art.
Griddles were a form of crisp if I remember correctly
I just updated the post after hearing from Nick Abadzis. He coloured it, and I added the zip-a-tone apparently. Thanks for the Griddles info!

Yes, you’re right Mike. I thought something was a bit off with those numbers.

lovely to see these presented in a way that the newsprint could never do justice. Colours are great
