It wasn't just the shonky albums – I remember a Mighty World of Marvel cover in which a weirdly mustard-coloured Hulk squared off against an equally trippy-looking Absorbing Man in space. Or maybe it was psychedelic shock brought on by guzzling Space Dust as a kid!

Something X-men! The shading is throwing me, though, I don’t remember shading in anything. Unfilled b&w, one colour, full colour... but shading?
