Arthur was a keeper on Chapman Lighthouse off of Canvey Island in Essex. My parents managed a shop on Canvey where the lighthouse keepers bought their provisions. Authur became lifelong friends with my family, living with us for some years!
He was best man at my wedding, the nicest man you could hope to meet.
Hi Ted, Lovely to hear from you, and nice to know Arthur was a positive part of someone else's life as well. He was very good at that! I remember him mentioning Canvey Island a fair few times during conversations with my parents. Thanks so much for letting me know. You made my Day! :)

I LOVE your Uncle Arthur stories...how blessed you were to have him in your life! Thank you for sharing him with us!
Thanks for reading it, and thanks for the nice feedback, Erin! (Gonna have to do some ghost stories soon :)
Excellent post Steve. Sad to say I never met Arthur, but I now feel as if I have!
Thanks, John! You met Margaret Pearson though, eh… young man!
Yep – and her predictions are still coming true!
Brilliant! Arthur sounds like a great bloke.
Thanks, Dave. He really was!
