September 12th, and a day in London’s East End before the flight back to the USA. This was Brick Lane like I’d never seen it before. It used to be local to me, but I hadn’t been there for nine years. I remember the graffiti for sure, but not like this; it was absolutely phenomenal! So, along with Sasha, Strictly Kev, and Rian Hughes, we wandered around and photographed as much as we could. Here are my own favourite shots.
Well, that was incredibly inspiring!
Brick Lane does look amazing. One of the big differences to the old days is that so much of the art is 'pre-made' and pasted onto the walls. But the standard is high all round.
My favourite is the Love Story cover, not just the striking image but also the text – 'Be popular at parties with Amnesiac B-sides' – 'Broken hearts make it rain' (etc.). Inspired! Love to know the origins of that one.
