I haven’t posted for the longest time, and I’ve just returned from the UK and my Dad’s house, where I discovered a lot of treasures from my teens. One of these discoveries was a box full of Man & Woman magazines.
Back in the 1970s my parents thought it a good idea to subscribe to this partwork for my brother and I. We always thought that was pretty cool of them, and a very progressive way of dealing with the birds and the bees for their teenage offspring.
The other collection of magazines I discovered were issues of Flying Saucer Review. These had been languishing in the shed for nigh on 40 years, and unfortunately had suffered damage due to a water leak since I was last there 6 years ago, which is a real drag. I started subscribing to this after my family and I had a Close Encounter in 1976, but that’s a story for another time.
Just to get me back into the habit of posting, here are a selection of covers. The photography and design is typical of the time, as are some of the articles and themes.
