This week’s first piece of vintage 2000 AD production art is a 38 year old classic by Brett Ewins.

A photo I took of Brett at Beckton Gasworks, East London, in 1988. This was the Location for Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket, which seemed relevant at the time as he was working on Bad Company for 2000 AD with his collaborators Peter Milligan, and Jim McCarthy.

Thanks to the BARNEY covers index for cover artist references. It’s worth noting that as well as being an amazing letterer, Tom Frame was often responsible for coloring the cover art using the blue line process seen here.
At Primary school we buried a time capsule in 1977 to be opened after 25yrs. One of the lads had put in a first addition 2000 AD comic which we were all were excited to see! Sadly, like the rest of the contents it was a soggy mess.
Nice work by Brett Ewins on the complete JD. I haven't seen that before.
